exida along with the ISA Maharashtra section will present a one day seminar on cybersecurity in industrial automation & control.
The event will be held on Saturday, 24 February 2018 at the Hotel Fortune Park Lake City, Near Viviana Mall, Eastern Express Highway, Thane—400601.
Increasing incidents of Cyber threats are a major concern for the industry, which is undergo- ing a major transformation with increasing level of automation, digitization and dependence on IT solutions. A common belief that industrial automation systems are immune to cyber attacks as long as they are isolated from internet is no longer true in today’s hyper connect- ed world. Systems are vulnerable to attacks through USB ports, Ethernet ports, Wi-Fi, file transfer between company and outsiders, use of personal devices etc. There can be acci- dental or intentional damage from a company’s own employees. The only way to control this menace is by continuously monitoring the network and by implementing rigid access control mechanisms.
Threats to industrial automation systems are different from the threats to IT security. They can affect workforce safety, production downtime, process disruptions and even inflict physical damage to plants and assets. The IT security technologies lack the ability to support industrial automation networks and they are unable to implement safety and security poli- cies necessary to protect these systems.
The objective of this seminar is to educate the stake holders in industry about the potential cyber security threats, their consequences, applicable standards, case studies by experts in this field. Industrial Cyber Security involves providing security measures at various levels such as the administrative level, plant level and the technical level. All such measures and methodology to be adopted by both IT and OT professionals in small medium and large process industries will be discussed in the seminar.
