exida CTO IWAN van BEURDEN BECOMES ISA FELLOW

  October 03, 2017

The International Society of Automation (ISA) announced that exida’s Chief Technology Officer Iwan van Beurden has received the distinguished membership grade of ISA Fellow for development of probabilistic analysis safety verification data, methods, and tools used to improve the safety lifecycle in the process industries.

ISA Fellow status is granted to senior members in recognition of their outstanding achievements in scientific/engineering fields and their contributions to the automation field as recognized by their ISA peers.

“Iwan’s contributions to the evaluation and application of instrumentation failure rates towards the evaluations of SIS reliability has greatly improved the accuracy and consistency throughout the international community,“ said Kenneth Yount of Eastman Chemical.

“Iwan has provided leadership to a group of engineers who have produced the exSILentia® safety lifecycle tool set.  He has also significantly contributed toward exida’s field failure data analysis research.  The results of that work are used to calibrate exida’s predictive failure rate models. The quality of the resulting data is likely to be the best in the world,” said Dr. William Goble, Managing Director of exida.

The award presentations will be made at the 55th Annual ISA Honors and Awards Gala on Oct. 29 at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay, Fla.
