EXIDA CERTIFIES YOKOGAWA AXR SERIES MAGNETIC FLOWMETER FOR SAFETY per IEC 61508

exida, an accredited global functional safety certification company, has certified the product reliability and the design and engineering processes for the Yokogawa AXR magnetic flowmeter as Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 capable per IEC 61508.
“The solid self-diagnostics of the flowmeter allowed it to pass the random hardware requirements of the standard,” says exida Evaluating Assessor Griff Francis. “Yokogawa’s procedures and project documents also demonstrated high design quality that met SIL 3 Capability per IEC 61508.”
A Failure Mode Effect and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) was backed by a field failure study. A fault injection test was also given to verify FMEDA results.
