Evaluating Manufacturer’s Certificates and Failure Rates (2017)

Recording Date: September 2017

IEC 61511:2016 asks for three things to be checked to verify a specific design for a given SIL level. When selecting products to use in safety applications, two important pieces of information to perform the verification should be provided by the manufacturer of the product – the functional safety certificate and the failure rate data. Of course, prior use justification can substitute for functional safety certification. But for those who do not have lots of experience with a product, functional safety certification is the preferred path. This webinar will describe the acceptance procedures used by exida when performing third party SIF verification and the reasoning for those procedures. Anyone who has responsibility for safety product selection or SIF verification should attend.
