Position Title:
Senior Safety Engineer/Specialist
Location: Calgary, AB, Canada
Description
The successful candidate would have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the process industry, be a member or eligible for membership with APEGGA or ASET, and possess or working towards CFSE certification. The optimal candidate would possess strong knowledge and experience in the following:
Job duties include:
- SIL determination (facilitation)
- SIL verification
- Audits and system analysis
- Determining and auditing operating and maintenance procedures
- Safety Requirements Specifications
- Review SIS design
Experience: The successful candidate would have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the process industry, be a member or eligible for membership with APEGGA or ASET, and possess or working towards CFSE certification. The optimal candidate would possess strong knowledge and experience in the following:
- Process and instrumentation
- PHA and SIL participation/facilitation experience
- Strong knowledge of IEC 61511/ISA 84 standards along with IEC 61508
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Experience in process control and safety instrumentation systems (design and installation)
- Project management
Education: Engineering degree or technical diploma in chemical/process, instrumentation/controls, or electrical/mechanical

Description
Job duties include: performing quantitative risk analysis, failure mode effects and diagnostic analysis, fault injection testing, layer of protection analysis, safety integrity level determinations and probabilistic analysis of instrumentation designs. In addition to working on client driven projects, the engineer will be involved in product development including development of professional tools and their testing and documentation, writing test reports and creating templates.
Experience: The optimal candidate will have experience in: control system instrumentation design and installation or safety instrumented system design and installation.
Education: BSChE/BSME/BSEE or equivalent experience.
