The sequential nature of batch processes often makes implementation of a Safety Instrumented System (SIS) more difficult than for continuous processes. exida.com has identified several important issues when comparing safety in batch processes with safety in continuous processes and when regarding the application of Safety Instrumented Systems in these processes. One of these issues is for example the implementation of variable trip levels. The report will describe each of these issues and indicate the industry practices derived from the literature study and the industry experts interviews. |
