Dave has over 30 years of experience in systems and product development in the industrial controls, telecommunications and medical device industries. He currently provides independent evaluation, technical training and support to industrial automation vendors in the areas of functional safety, reliability and industrial automation security.  He is responsible for product assessments and certifications for functional safety standards including IEC 61508, ISO 26262, EN 50128 and API 580.  As part of this work, he also performs gap analysis, software criticality analysis, and proven-in-use analysis.

Dave has a wide breadth of knowledge in all phases of product development, with a strong focus on software.  He has experience in software development, system testing, quality assurance, UML modeling, communications protocol design, automated software testing, configuration management, process development and process improvement.  He led a team in the development of an advanced configuration software application which provides a sophisticated interface to configure and monitor distributed control systems, fully supporting IEC 61131-3 configuration languages.

Dave holds an M.S. in Computer Engineering from Villanova University, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University.
