Why People Dangerously Ignore Motor Controllers in a SIF

Recording Date: September 2019

In the process industry, Motor controllers are often used in safety instrumented functions to de-energize pumps, fans, and rotating equipment. These devices are often ignored in SIF design verification because IEC 61508 certified devices are hard to find and failure rate data is often not available. This webinar explains how to fill that void by informing where to get failure rate data for these important devices and gives examples of using both a certified device with actual FMEDA data and generic failure data.
