Join industry experts and colleagues for a virtual cybersecurity symposium hosted by exida. During this event cybersecurity will be examined from several important viewpoints including asset owner, equipment supplier, and system integrator. Best practices for each of these stakeholders will be examined and discussed. 

Strategies to reduce cyber risk while maintaining practical plans and methods will be explored. The benefits of certification of process, products, and systems as well as the latest industry tools will be presented.

Presenters:

Peter Culbert, CFSE

Mr. Culbert is the Operations Manager & Senior Safety Engineer for exida Ireland and leads the Engineering & End-User services business within the Western European team. He has over 20 years of industrial experience in Functional safety, Cybersecurity and Alarm management within the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical and Industrial electrical sectors. Mr. Culbert was heavily involved in the development, audit/assessment, and continuous improvement/maintenance of multiple IACS Cyber/Digital security projects within the ACG Fleet Caspian operations for over 10 years in the Oil & Gas Industry, and carries vast operational, integration, maintenance and development experience into engagements with our current customers at exida.

Kate Hildenbrandt

Ms. Hildenbrandt is the exSILentia Suite Product Manager, responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and feature definition for exSILentia software and associated products as well as development of customer accounts and outbound marketing activities. She is also focused on providing training and application support to new and existing customers utilizing exSILentia®. She graduated from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. She has over 10 years of professional experience in the gases and chemicals industry, with roles in Process Safety, Project Management, Plant Process Engineering and Project Development.

Mike Medoff, CFSE and CISA

Mr. Medoff is Director if Cybersecurity Certification and has over 30 years of experience in industrial systems and instrumentation and extensive knowledge in real-time software design and management of large development projects. He currently provides independent evaluation, technical training and support to Industrial Automation vendors in the areas of safety, reliability and industrial automation security. Mr. Medoff is a co-author of Functional Safety: A SIL 3 Compliant Development Process and an active member on several international committees. 

Patrick O’Brien, CFSP and CACS

Mr. O’Brien is a Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) and a Certified Automation Cybersecurity Specialist (CACS). He has over 6 years of experience as a functional safety and cybersecurity engineer and has extensive experience leading cybersecurity risk assessment and management activities for clients across multiple industries including critical infrastructure, oil and gas, and chemical. Mr. O’Brien was a co-author of one of the industry’s first cybersecurity books Implementing IEC 62443: A Pragmatic Approach to Cybersecurity, is the project lead for the upcoming Center for Chemical Process Safety Concept Book Managing Cybersecurity in the Process Industries – A Risk-Based Approach, and is an active member of the ISA Global Cybersecurity Alliance.

Iwan van Beurden, CFSE

Mr. van Beurden is the Chief Technology Officer and Director of Product and Service Development at exida where he is the architect of the exSILentia® software. Mr. van Beurden supports has over 20 years of professional experience in the Functional Safety field. He performs IEC 61508 development process evaluations and Functional Safety Assessments. In addition, he supports industry specific safety lifecycle tasks, including the process, machinery, nuclear, and automotive industries. Mr. van Beurden is a member of the IEC 61511 maintenance team representing the USA and a voting member of the ISA 84 committee. Mr. van Beurden is an ISA Fellow, a Certified Functional Safety Expert, and holds a Master of Science degree from Eindhoven University of Technology in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where he majored in reliability engineering and graduated cum laude.
