Venue Information

Accommodation

We hold an allocation of rooms with the venue for the agreed rate of £112.00 per night including breakfast, Wi-Fi and VAT.  You must book your accommodation yourself with your own method of payment. Please use this link or call the Hilton Group directly quoting the Group Booking Code of GEXIS. 

You may be able to get cheaper rates online but please ensure you book a flexible rate including breakfast (as there is nothing nearby). 

Please note - exida's room allocation is released 14 nights prior to the start of the event.  

Parking at Venue

Parking for delegates is free. Car park tickets will be available from the course trainer or take your ticket to Reception for them to waiver the fee.

Some more detailed instructions below:

Birmingham International Airport (BHX)

This is the closest international airport to the venue. The Airport train station, (also Birmingham International) is located 500 meters from the Airport Passenger Terminals.

Trains from Birmingham Airport

The train station is linked to the Passenger Terminals by the free a frequent Air-Rail Link from 05:15 to 02:00.

There are several options for trains from Birmingham International to the following stations:

  • Leamington Spa training station. This station is 12 miles from the venue and has a direct hourly service and the journey lasts about 30 minutes.
  • Warwick training station. This station is 10 miles from the venue with an indirect but more frequent service that will take about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Taxi from Birmingham Airport

A Taxi direct from BHX to the venue will take approximately 35 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. The driver should be able to give you a price before commencing your journey.

London Airports

Anyone arriving at London airports should look to travel to London Marylebone train station and then follow the train advice below.

Arrival by Train
Please see the UK National Rail website at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ for detailed train schedules and ticket prices. The train station nearest the venue is either Leamington Spa Warwick. There should be many options for trains from all major UK cities to these stations.

Taxi
A Taxi will be required to reach the venue from either rail station and will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes to reach the Hilton Hotel.

Arrival by Car
We would recommend you use a route planning website (Google Maps or AA Route Planner for example) or a Satellite navigation device using the hotel address above.


General Course & Exam Information

Start/Finish times

The training courses commence at 09:00 hours each day. Courses usually finish between 17:00 and 18.00 hours daily, depending on class progress.

For the FSE 100 Course we aim to finish between 15:00 and 16:00 hours on the final day to allow time for those traveling home and to give some instructions for those staying for the Friday CFSE or CFSP exam.  If you are sitting the CFSE or CFSP exam you will need to bring pohtograhed identification and a non-programmable scientific calculator is highly recommended.

Course Provisions

Your course fee includes a daily 2-course buffet lunch in the restaurant and regular refreshments (tea, coffee, water etc). If you have any special dietary requirements then please indicate this when booking on the course.

Your course fee includes a training manual and, for the FSE 100 only, the exida Safety Book Package. All course materials are supplied on arrival unless otherwise pre-agreed to send in advance noting additional postage costs will be charged. A certificate of course attendance will be issued to you on completion of the course.

Insurance

The organisers cannot be held responsible for accidents involving delegates, or for damage to, or loss of their personal property howsoever caused. Delegates should therefore make their own insurance arrangements.

CFSE and CFSP Exam information (after the FSE 100 course only) 

Examination fees are not included in the course fee. To pay examination fees, and for all other details about the CFSE and CFSP examination application process please refer to the CFSE website (http://www.cfse.org).

Queries relating to individual applications should be sent to administrator@cfse.org. You are welcome to bring your application with you to the exam and you can put this in with your sealed exam paper as all items will be sent via FedEx to the US.

If you plan to take the CFSP or CFSE examination, you may do so immediately following the course or at any of the pre-arranged dates in the future, provided you have paid your fees to the CFSE Governance Board. Delegates who have not completed the necessary application material prior to taking the exam must complete all necessary application documentation before the CFSE Board will issue certificates to successful applicants.

Unless you are very confident with the subject matter, we do not recommend that you take the CFSP or CFSE exam immediately following completion of the FSE I/II training course unless you have prepared in advance. Study time should be allowed between the course and exam to assimilate the material from the course notes, text books and related functional safety standards.

ALL DELEGATES SHOULD ARRIVE AT THE EXAM VENUE NO LATER THAN 08:45 FOR REGISTRATION AND EXAM INSTRUCTIONS. Registration requires either a passport, photographed driving license of national ID Card.

The CFSP process applications exam is given from 09:00 to 13:00 (4 hours) on the scheduled exam day. There is no further exam paper for the CFSP.

The CFSE process applications Case Study/Short Answer exam paper is given simultaneously from 09:00 to 13:00. Following a 1 hour break for lunch, the CFSE Multiple choice paper is given from 14:00 to 16:00.
