Risk Analysis / SIF ID
This session addresses several aspects of risk management from the safety and reliability perspective. Participants will consider the definition of risk, its measurement, and some general methods of risk management. The key international standards and guidelines for risk management are covered, as well as important considerations for reducing risk. This lesson will help one develop a working knowledge of risk and risk management as part of an overall safety program. These concepts are combined with how to identify safety instrumented functions given the typical documentation including the PHA results and P&ID drawings. The information needed for each SIF is described with examples of information sources. It is intended for engineers, risk analysts, process safety management and general plant management.
